CHEYENNE – The state Department of Environmental Quality announced Thursday that the Wyoming Industrial Siting Council has granted a permit for construction of the Roundhouse Wind Energy Project nine miles west of Cheyenne.

Roundhouse Renewable Energy LLC plans to build a wind energy facility with capacity to produce up to 300 megawatts of energy. The project components include up to 120 turbines, up to two substations, an operations-and-maintenance building, turbine access roads, an above and underground electrical collection system, and a 19-mile 230kV transmission line to the Platte River Power Authority Rawhide Substation in northern Colorado.

The project is located on 49,974 acres of city of Cheyenne, state of Wyoming and private lands in Laramie County. The 17-month construction period is expected to start this month and wrap up by the end of 2020. Construction manpower is anticipated to peak at 240 workers during August 2020.
