TIFFIN – By a 2-1 vote on Thursday, the Seneca County Commissioners went on record against two wind farms proposed locally and came out in support of stronger setback requirements. It also terminated its agreement with an attorney who had served as its legal counsel for wind projects.
Previously, the board had been on the record as only an interested party.
The resolution states that the county will “withdraw all previous support of the Seneca Wind, Republic Wind or any proposed wind turbine projects to the maximum extent allowed by law.”
“We cannot begin to thank the Seneca County Commissioners enough on their passing of this resolution today,” according to a statement issued by the Seneca Anti-Wind Union, a citizens group that opposes wind farms in that county.
