PSC sets public hearing on proposed Black Rock Wind Farm

KEYSER, W.Va. – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia has scheduled a public hearing later this month for a wind farm that would straddle the Mineral and Grant county line.

The hearing will take place July 26 at 6 p.m. at the Grant County Courthouse.

State and local officials detailed plans for the Black Rock Wind Farm in mid-May. If ultimately approved, it could have a generation capacity of up to 170 megawatts and create hundreds of jobs during construction, according to state officials. The project is also expected to create “significant” new tax revenues for Mineral and Grant counties and the state of West Virginia.

Clearway Energy Group, which also owns the nearby Pinnacle Wind Farm in Mineral County, is the project developer.

A two-day evidentiary hearing is scheduled Sept. 11 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Public Service Commission headquarters in Charleston. A final decision on the project is expected in March.

Information about the project can be found on the PSC website, www.pc.state.wv.us. The case number is 19-0483-E-CS.
