Packer zoning board sets spots for balloon photos

The balloon study for the proposed wind turbines atop the Broad Mountain in Packer Township is planned for either July 20, 21 or 22. The flying of these four balloons, intended to be a representation of all of the proposed wind turbines, all 26 sites, is to produce panoramic photos to be provided to the Packer Township Zoning Hearing Board. The zoning board is holding hearings about the proposed wind turbines project.

The four balloons will go up around dawn on the day conditions are suitable. Winds have to be light for this to work.

A plan is being worked up on how to inform interested parties of the day and time.

The Packer Township Zoning Hearing Board requested sets of photos from Broad Mountain Power from Saint Matthew’s Church front, three sites along Quakake Road, Wallace Way southwest from the Colangelo home, from the McDonald’s at 180 Market St. in Nesquehoning, and from the Hauto PPL Substation.

The next Packer Township Zoning Hearing Board session, the eighth of the continuing hearings on the Broad Mountain Power proposal will begin at 6 p.m. July 8 at the middle/elementary school cafeteria.
