Consider nature, wind farm impact

Journal-Courier | Friday, April 12, 2019 | www.myjournalcourier.com

According to the World Book Encyclopedia, millions of years ago – during the Ice Age and subsequent Global Warming Era – some of the most fertile soil on this planet was created here in central Illinois.

This area has been called “the garden of the nation” and “the bread basket of the world.”

As good stewards of this precious, irreplaceable land, we must protect what God (Mother Nature) has placed in our care. Giant towers of steel with deep-in-ground concrete bases do not fulfill that duty.

No amount of money, much of it provided by all taxpayers, is worth the loss of the friendship and the goodwill of neighbors and relatives who oppose this invasion into their lives.

Our understanding is that the administration and residents of Sangamon County voted against a wind farm in their area. Hopefully, our landowners and elected officials of Morgan County will be as conscientious and considerate.
