The police fined the wind power protesters who have parked illegally on Frøya to prevent construction work.

The protesters had parked along the county road 716, NRK reports.

This is an 80 kmh zone and parking is not allowed along the road. The fines handed out were 900 NOK, and the protesters are there to prevent the construction work from starting.

Monday marked Trønderenergi Vind beginning of the wind power development on Frøya. This led the protest group ‘No to wind turbines at Frøya’ to take a stand and blocked the physical start-up, writes Hitra-Frøya.

On Monday, Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) also presented its final proposal for suitable areas for the development of wind turbines, where 13 areas in the country are identified as being best suited for wind power development.
