BELLEVUE – A date has been sent for the new public informational meeting on the Emerson Creek Wind Project.

Apex Clean Energy wants to build up 71 wind turbines in Erie and Huron counties, but it hit the snag in their application process when the Ohio Power Siting Board ordered a second public information meeting.

The board – which has the power to approve or deny the Emerson Creek project – said a second meeting was needed because of changes to the plan since the first one.

The decision followed concerns raised by state lawmakers about the removal of a woman opposed to the project during the initial public meeting in November.

An Apex spokesperson claimed they followed the guidelines of the administration code, but they would host another meeting to include the changes. The board’s administrative law judge told Apex to ensure the second meeting was open to the public.

On Wednesday, Apex sent a letter to the board letting them know the second meeting would be 5-7 p.m. April 3 at the Bellevue VFW, 6104 U.S. 20.
