Comments Invited on Sand Hill Wind Farm SEIR

The Independent | January 17, 2019 | www.independentnews.com

The Alameda County Community Development Agency (CDA) is in the process of circulating a Subsequent Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) for the Sand Hill wind turbine repowering in the Altamont.

Deadline for individuals and agencies that would like to comment is Feb. 6. Written comments should be addressed to Andrew Young, Planner, ATTN: SEIR, Alameda County Community Development Agency, 224 W. Winton Avenue, Suite 110, Hayward, CA, 94544, or at (510) 670-5400, or see www.acgov.org/cda/planning, and then follow successive links from Pending Land Use Projects.

The Sand Hill project is in the northwest corner of the Altamont in the Altamont Pass Wind Resource Area (APWRA). It will replace 671 old, small turbines with up to 40 large, modern wind towers, which will be capable of producing up to 4 megawatts (MW) each. There would be a maximum production capacity of 144.4 MW, states the county notice.

The project is proposed for 15 mostly contiguous parcels on approximately 2600 acres.
