It’s important to remember as you drive around Newman and Murdock townships in Douglas County that opinion varies.
As you see all of the no wind farm signs in yards and fields, most of those individuals are simply saying one thing. We do not want the wind farm here because we have no protection from the wind farm.
It’s easy to say these individuals simply don’t want it because they are opposed to wind energy, or they just don’t want to look at them.
That may be my opinion, that may be some others’ opinion.
The truth is we have no protection. No protection if we only had the out-of-date ordinance our county expected us to use.
So I encourage everyone to look into setbacks that are current, decommission costs that are current and protection from loss in property values.
There is a lot that goes into safety and peace of mind. Particularly when something comparable in size to the St. Louis Arch could be 1,000 feet from the foundation of the house you live in.
