Statements on wind farm questionable

As evidenced by PNE’s full-page ad in Sunday’s Bismarck Tribune, it is OK to make untrue or inaccurate statements and label them as “facts.” Where do we start? The ecological assessments were done, using the bare minimums to qualify as a suitable study, and using hand-picked locations to obtain favorable results for the project.
If you listen to the USFWS and NDGF staff, they will tell you that from their perspectives, this site would be one of the worst possible locations in the state for impacts to wildlife and resources. Next, their statement of project design to minimize visual impact is laughable, as these projected towers are 567 feet tall on hills that are 500 feet higher in elevation than the city of Bismarck, while being 15 miles from the city – how can you minimize a structure that’s over 1,000 feet higher than the city landscape? Let’s move on to their “fact” that the majority of Morton Township voters approve of this project – the County Planning/Zoning Commission will find out today that it’s not true.
Fact No. 6 is a doozy, as the developer uses the full proposed footprint (Morton and Telfer townships, and northwest Emmons County) when it supports their revenue figures and other supposed benefits, but limits the discussion to only Morton Township residents to avoid the discussion that they’ve gotten nowhere in their attempts to gain traction in Telfer and Emmons. FAA has certainly weighed in – what PNE does not disclose is the fact that there are lots of these towers that are too tall as proposed.
Thankfully, many Burleigh and Emmons county residents have engaged in this process – there will be plenty of truthful testimony at today’s meeting exposing these untrue and inaccurate statements.
