After windmills, what’s next?

The Tribune-Democrat | www.tribdem.com

The Greater Johnstown Water Authority should be ashamed. The GJWA has petitioned the Cambria County courts to lift deed restrictions of the property in the watersheds to allow for massive wind development. This is the definition of abuse of power.

A court hearing was conducted without any opposition witnesses and without anyone knowing what was at stake.

Further, this is a slippery slope when it comes to windmills on our water authority land. If the restrictions can be lifted for windmills, then what is next? Are strip mines, garbage dumps or land application of sewage sludge next?

The Greater Johnstown Water Authority should go back to court and restore the deed restrictions. Our great-grandchildren 100 years from now are going to want clean water and we have a responsibility to protect our resources.
