Windkraft-Gondel brennt in 60 Meter Höhe

Im Windpark Westerholt (Landkreis Wittmund) ist am Donnerstag in 60 Metern Höhe die Gondel einer Windkraftanlage in Flammen aufgegangen. Die Feuerwehr war mit 50 Einsatzkräften vor Ort. Sie ließ die Anlage in der Samtgemeinde Holtriem kontrolliert abbrennen, wie NDR 1 Niedersachsen berichtete. Die Flügel seien herabgestürzt, sagte ein Feuerwehrsprecher. Sie wurden am Boden gelöscht. Verletzt wurde niemand.

Brandursache ist unklar

Warum die Anlage Feuer fing, ist bisher unklar. Im vergangenen Jahr hatte schon einmal eine Windkraftanlage in diesem Gebiet gebrannt. Insgesamt ist der Windradbrand der dritte im Jahr 2018 in Niedersachsen. Erst Mitte Oktober hatte eine Anlage in Rhede Feuer gefangen. Der TÜV-Verband hatte daraufhin eine bessere Kontrolle und eine verpflichtende Überprüfung von Windrädern gefordert. Die Bundesregierung und der Bundesverband WindEnergie (BWE) lehnen dies ab.

Rotorblätter und Masten brechen

Neben Bränden war es in der Vergangenheit in Niedersachsen immer wieder zu Abbrüchen von Rotorblättern und Masten gekommen. In Neu Wulmstorf (Landkreis Harburg) war Anfang Januar dieses Jahres ein 94 Meter hohes Windrad umgestürzt.
