People interested in a proposed wind farm in Roberts and Grant counties have an opportunity to give their input at a public hearing Dec. 19 in Summit.

The 6 p.m. hearing at the school, 400 Sherman Ave., is hosted by the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission. It’s for an application from Dakota Range III for a wind energy farm and transmission line, according to a public notice in the Sisseton Courier on Nov. 13.

Dakota Range III has applied to build an 8-mile, 345-kilovolt transmission line and a wind energy conversion facility of up to 151.2 megawatts in Grant and Roberts counties. The transmission line will run from a substation in Blooming Valley Township along 455th Avenue, then east along 159th Street to the Ottertail Power switchyard in Mazeppa Township. It could have 42 turbines.

A copy of the application is on file with the Grant and Roberts county auditors and the PUC office in Pierre. It and supporting documents can be found at puc.sd.gov/Dockets/Electric/2018/EL18-046.aspx; by contacting the PUC at the Capitol, 500 E. Capitol Ave., Pierre, SD 57501; or by calling 605-773-3201.
