Wind farm wrong for Gage, Lancaster counties

Credit:  The Lincoln Journal Star | journalstar.com ~~

Once again, we are having to contend with industrial wind turbines in Gage and Lancaster counties.

What has changed? Our county commissioners voted and set safe and responsible setbacks and sound limits. Now, NextEra, a multibillion-dollar company, wants to change everything we have all worked so hard for in order to make their project fit.

This area is highly populated and is not the place for their project. Their proposal wants these massive turbines 1,475 feet from our nonparticipating dwellings – not even to our actual property lines. This is just not acceptable.

Landowners or participating farmers with enough land to meet these present setbacks and noise guidelines can profit. If we keep these setbacks and sound limits that were researched by our health department, wind companies and communities in Nebraska can coexist.

Please keep wind projects away from large rural communities.

JoJen Allder, Cortland
