An interim report has been released on the health effects of wind turbines in Huron County.
Health Unit officials began recruiting residents living near turbines in October of 2017.
Epidemiologist, Dr. Erica Clark, says 105 eligible residents have consented to the study, so far, with only 40 having completed the Registration Survey.
Results at this point show approximately 60 per cent of respondents report they have been bothered, disturbed, or annoyed by noise, vibration, light and/or sensations from turbines.
Clark is hoping to hear from residents who live within five kilometres of a wind turbine, whether or not they are experiencing health effects.
Materials to get involved in the study can be found at any library in Huron County, at the Huron County Health Unit office in Clinton, or through the Health Unit’s website.
Recruiting for the study will close later this year.
In late 2014, Health Canada released the results of a study, which found no link between wind turbines and adverse health in those living nearby.
The study did, however, link turbine noise with increased levels of annoyance of nearby residents.
