People have been posting their images on social media of the fire, which many have speculated was caused by a lightning strike last night.

Their images show flames and plumes of smoke emanating from the nacelle – the main control box at the top of the turbine’s tower.

“Crews arrived to find an 89m wind turbine well alight, with debris falling to the ground.”

The fire is being allowed to burn out.
