Motion for stay of wind farm project work to be heard Friday

A concerned citizens group fighting an industrial wind turbine project in Prince Edward County says it’s taking the company back to court

In a statement, the Association to Protect Prince Edward County says “it’s clear that WPD plans to continue construction during the prohibited period of May 1 through October 14”, so the group made an application for a judicial review of the situation, which has been approved.

APPEC says it is urgent their motion for a stay of construction be approved, so that motion will be heard tomorrow morning in Toronto.

APPEC also says due to its ongoing legal proceedings with WPD, its members will not be attending a May 15 Community Liason Committee meeting with the company, but others may still want to.

Both sides are also still waiting on a written decision from the Environmental Review Tribunal, on their reasons for not conducting a hearing on the nine turbine farm, which APPEC says could potentially harm humans and the habitat of the endangered blandings turtle.
