Business raising funds for Freddie the Eagle

SYCAMORE – A two-day sale at a local gift shop will help give a rescued bald eagle long-term care and a permanent home.

Sweet Earth, Gifts, Jewelry, Engraving & Beads is hosting a raffle to benefit “Freedom Freddie” the bald eagle, who was rescued earlier this year by the Oaken Acres Wildlife Center. The store wanted to help give the eagle the care he needs and give the public the opportunity to help as well, according to a news release.

The eagle needed medical attention when he was found in critical condition in January. His wing was badly injured after he had been struck by a wind turbine, which resulted in two surgeries leading to a partial wing amputation.

Raffle entries are $1 each and multiple entries are permitted throughout the week at Sweet Earth, and customers get to take home an image of Freddie for every five entries.

Those who enter in the raffle have a chance to win $50 gift certificates to the store and E-Cloth Chemical-Free Deluxe Cleaning Kits.

The shop is celebrating Earth Day all this week and will have its big sale Friday and Saturday.

Customers must bring in their 2018 Sweet Earth Green Bag to receive 20 percent off regularly priced merchandise on those two days only.

Sweet Earth also will have several demonstrations on how the chemical-free cleaning kits work and how they can help reduce paper towel purchases.
