Wind debate still unsettled, divisive

ELSIE – Before a crowd of at least 100 people Tuesday, the Shiawassee County Planning Commission recommended several changes to a draft of the county’s wind turbine ordinance that seems to leave people on both sides of the issue unsatisfied.

“In any negotiation, if both sides walk away a little angry, it’s probably a sign they got a good result,” said Joshua Nolan, an attorney representing the citizens group Regulated Wind of Shiawassee County – several of whose members attended Tuesday’s meeting. “Our side had a few things we wanted and didn’t get, and so did the other side. We’ll have to monitor this situation and see how it progresses.”
