MAPLE GROVE TWP. – On Monday, March 19, the Maple Grove Township Board will hold its regular monthly meeting, which is expected to be held at the Maple Grove Township Hall, 17010 Lincoln Road, New Lothrop.

Several citizens would like to discuss the potential for wind turbines to be built in the community and would like to know where the township stands on the issue.

A group of residents who formed a Facebook group called Informed Citizens of Maple Grove Township are aware that a company identified as Shiawassee Wind Project, LLC has already contracted with several property owners in Saginaw County, including Maple Grove and Chesaning Township property owners.

According to the Saginaw County website, Shiawassee Wind Project, LLC has lease agreements with the following persons/entity (dates recorded): Charles J. Weisenberger Trust (May 12, 2017), Joseph D. Donovan and Sandra K. Donovan (May 16, 2017), Arnold Lee Wenzlick (May 24, 2017), Dianne Lynn Stasa and John Thomas Stasa (May 30, 2017), Eleanor L. Wenzlick and Urban D. Wenzlick (June 6, 2017), Charles J. Weisenberger and Linda L. Weisenberger (July 7, 2017), Ellen A. Weisenberger and Kenneth R. Weisenberger (July 14, 2017), Linda K. Ebenhoeh and Timothy J. Ebenhoeh (July 27, 2017), Donald W. Petrosky and Srinuan Petrosky (July 27, 2017), Doris Krupp and Edward Krupp (Sept. 21, 2017), Mary Ann Krupp and Wayne M. Krupp (Sept. 21, 2017), R. Cynthia Schlachter and R. Nicholas Philip Schlachter (Nov. 7, 2017) and Jane M. Krupp and Timothy L. Krupp, Sr. (Feb. 14, 2018).

Maple Grove resident Merrick Matthews said he is concerned that this issue is tearing apart the community, pitting neighbor against neighbor. He believes residents need to be better informed about the issue.
