Ordinance lacks proper protections

Credit:  Letters: March 1, 2018 | Journal Review | www.journalreview.com ~~

The wind industry ruined it for everyone by encouraging towers near human populations. Unfortunately, the disparaging attitude toward “country people” has been planted by the wind industry to make it easier for public conscience to ruin rural properties, lives and schools. Unfortunately, for the wind industry in this county, the country people are also the farmers feeding America, and even the commissioners themselves.

“Town people” like those in the country are the teachers who educate the rural kids, and own the businesses who cater to the country folk. Big wind simply makes money by dividing us. We need to encourage the commissioners to include setbacks of 2,640 in the new ordinance and include verbage to protect our schools. This is what other Indiana counties have done.
