Well Mr. Los got one thing correct, you can fool some of the people some of the time. Obviously he is one of the people that got fooled by what he was told, and he signed a lease with APEX.
In his letter it states what a “blessing” it will be to have the wind turbines in our area. It’s not all going to be for those of us living among the 500-600 foot wind turbines. Some of the land owners will be paid if they end up with the turbines on their property. But why shouldn’t they, they are giving up the rights to do whatever they want to do with their property for the next 30 plus years.
The neighbors of those people with land and turbines on it will be the ones who will suffer the consequences of those signed leases. Many people who are large land owners do not even live on or near the land that is being leased out to APEX, so they don’t have worry about the health and safety issues, or the change in their landscape that these turbines will cause.
Very few people even knew about Isabella Wind. By the time people heard of it, it was a done deal. This project, that will affect nearly every person in our county, was not given the time and research that was needed to do it correctly. At the Isabella County planning commission meeting June 8th 2017 experts expressed concerns about hearing and safety issues, land/ home values going down, set backs from other property lines, flicker effect, no height restrictions, health concerns, etc. Yet this project went through against valid concerns from the people of Isabella County.
If not for tax subsidies, APEX would not be coming into our county. They do not have the money to fund projects such as this without government assistance. In reality, you and I are paying for them by using our tax dollars to pay for wind turbines to be built in an area that at best, has limited wind to support wind energy. Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture?
Will we continue to see the eagles year round, hawks, or snowy owls all through the winter months? It’s doubtful they will survive migrations and flights around 200 spinning wind turbines in our county. APEX doesn’t care, but I do.
There are two sides to every story and you are only hearing their “pro” side stories on wind turbines when talking to APEX. Make sure you educate yourselves and listen carefully to “the rest of the story” from others that have had negative issues and problems with the turbines, so that you don’t make the same mistakes that they have.
