An important event recently took place in Savoy. The people of this small town voted on whether or not to rescind the town bylaw, passed a decade ago that allowed commercial wind turbines to be built in Savoy. Ten years ago the town voted “yes” to this bylaw, which was supported by Minuteman Wind. But in the intervening years a great deal more information about the negative aspects of wind turbines has been revealed and many Savoy residents changed their minds.
By a comfortable margin (101 to 22) the people of Savoy said “no” to wind turbines in their town. This is a beautiful example of what information can accomplish.
The fight against commercial wind turbines is going on all over the world. I am extremely proud of my friends and neighbors in Savoy who have fought and won an important battle. They have not only helped themselves they have set a far-reaching example.
