Stop ‘big wind’ before it blows through county

Journal Review | www.journalreview.com

Why should the people of Montgomery County care about the planned wind energy projects? It helps if we can envision what life will be like in their shadows.

You won’t be able to view the night stars because the red strobes dominate the skyline.

You can’t sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet of your property because of the noise.

You won’t sleep well because of the noise and infrasound resonating 24/7 in your home.

You’ll develop health problems due to your sleep disruption. You’ll be restricted from building on parts of your own property if it’s within the setback limits of your neighbor’s turbine. Your groundwater is dirty. Your school’s enrollment drops.

When you try to sell your property you’ll realize that even though your assessed value has remained the same, the market value of your land has dropped.

If you stay because you can’t sell your property, you’re taxes will go up to pay for the decommissioning.

You won’t talk to your neighbor or share waves on the road because he is responsible for your dilemma.

And for those of you outside of the currently planned project, history has shown that these things swarm across the landscape like a bad agricultural blight. Oh, and when it comes time to suffer the cost of decommissioning, you’ll also be on the hook.

If you value your rights of property ownership, contact your commissioners to let them know that you are against big wind.
