Commissioners clear the way for wind farm

Woodward County Commissioners met Monday morning for their regularly scheduled meeting during which they approved several items related to a new wind farm that will be built in part of Woodward County.

Commissioners approved a road use agreement between Persimmon Creek Wind Farm 1 LLC and the Board of County Commissioners of Woodward County followed by 22 applications for permits from Wanzek for driveway entrances in District #2.

Commissioners approved an addition application for a permit from Wanzek for a driveway entrance in District #2 followed by revised applications for permits from Wanzek for road crossings in District #2. The revised permit applications changed the location slightly and were approved in a previous meeting.

Tommy Blakley with Sandy Creek Enterprizes spoke with commissioners about a product he offers to wind farms for dust control. The product resembles molasses and binds dirt and rocks together before hardening. The product is used as a blacktop of sorts and eliminates the dust.

On to more routine items, commissioners approved blanket purchase orders followed by a resolution determining maximum monthly highway expenditures for November totaling $288,910.53 to be split three way between the highway districts at $96,303.51 each.

Commissioners reviewed and approved the monthly reports of county officers for October.

Commissioners approved Kevin Dixon as a requisitioning officer for Woodward County Fire Department.

Commissioners also approved Michael Pettey and Jimmy Wilson as requisitioning officers and Jonathan Murray and John Hix were also confirmed as receiving agents, all for the Fort Supply Fire Department as well as Vernie Matt as a requisitioning officer and Steve J. Hamilton as a receiving agent for the Woodward County Fair Grounds and Event Center.

Commissioners approved a number of purchase orders.
