Might Apex know when it’s not wanted?

A review of the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) website has exposed information that all should know about Apex Clean Energy generally and the Lighthouse Wind industrial wind turbine emplacement project specifically.

All information presented here can be found at www.nyiso.com. Apex Clean Energy has four projects listed on the website.

Astoundingly, its Lighthouse Wind LLC submitted an interconnection request (IR) on June 30, 2014, prior to public announcement of the project. Given the public information plan requirements of Article 10, is APEX Clean Energy LLC/Lighthouse Wind LLC in breach of Article 10 requirements? Food for thought. Also, Apex/Lighthouse Wind LLC’s request lists a proposed in-service date of September 2017 and a commercial operation date (COD) of December 2017. However, its website currently lists a COD of October 2020.

So, Lighthouse Wind shows a delay of almost three years from the original COD. What could the reasons be for the delay? All listed projects are subject to the same Article 10 rules and should take the same amount of time, given a level playing field. Could it be that the opposition to the Lighthouse Wind project is continuing to effectively deny Apex/Lighthouse Wind LLC a compliant constituency?

From my perspective, the opposition to this project is the reason for the delay and ultimate defeat of the Lighthouse Wind industrial wind turbine emplacement project.

Governor Cuomo, are you listening?

John Riggi, Yates town council member, Lyndonville
