Do no harm

Harm is defined as causing hurt, injury, damage, and moral wrong.
That is exactly what is happening with the building of wind turbines in populated areas such as Henry County.
The topic is not political. On the contrary, it is basically based on money.
The land owners potentially stand to receive a fair amount of money by leasing their land to wind companies.
I totally understand.
The problem is that their neighbors don’t receive a dime and could suffer health problems, not to mention the disturbance of the view of the countryside.
For those who don’t understand, on a sunny day drive west by Glen Oaks to the T in the road, then turn left and drive through Greensboro and on.
While you are enjoying the beauty of the countryside, imagine 500 foot tall turbines blighting the land, some of which has already been leased to a wind company.
If that isn’t convincing, drive north past the hospital then cross Ind. 36 and look at the beauty of Blue River Valley along the way, some of which has also been leased.
Just maybe some people might understand why others want to keep turbines out of Henry County. The objection has nothing to do with alternative energy.
I am very saddened that this issue is causing turmoil between people! I personally don’t ever want to offend or upset anyone, but I have rights also.
From the beginning had the wind topic been handled differently than it was by our county representatives, this issue would probably all be behind us. Unfortunately it remains a very controversial issue.
A few weeks ago I urged people to attend the June Planning Commissioners meeting concerning wind farms in Henry County.
That meeting was canceled.
The next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 20th at the Henry County Courthouse in New Castle, unless it is also canceled.
