Councillor outraged at new planning application submitted by ABO Wind Ireland

WicklowNews | July 12, 2017 | wicklownews.net

Cllr. Pat Kennedy has expressed his shock and outrage at the new planning application submitted by ABO Wind Ireland Ltd to re-apply for planning permission to build 11 industrial scale wind turbines in rural South Wicklow.

“Last year the people of rural south Wicklow and particularly those families in the communities of Rednagh, Killaduff, Ballymanus, Preban, Ballinglen, and Askakeagh rejected the proposal by ABO Wind Ireland Ltd to build a largescale windfarm in their area and I am appalled at the fact that they now have decided to reapply under a new application for 11 turbines of 150m in height”.

Cllr. Kennedy said. “Since last Thursday my phone hasn’t stopped ringing with people concerned about this, from both a health and visual point of view.

These same people utterly rejected this planning application the last time it was submitted.

There were over 400 objections the last time, including my own, and I want to assure all of these people and indeed all of the families of South Wicklow that I will be objecting to it this time on the strongest grounds possible.

I will also be calling on my fellow public representatives to object to this planning application in the interests of families and their children. There will be a public meeting in Lawless Hotel, Aughrim on Thursday 20th July at 8.00 p.m. and I encourage everybody to attend if possible.

I am available to be contacted by any member of the community who wish to discuss this with me before then and indeed I will be out in the areas affected by this planning application meeting people before Thursday 20th.”
