Court rejects appeal of Fecamp permit

Тhe Administrative Court of Appeal in Nantes has rejected appeals filed against the permits of the 498 MW Fecamp offshore wind project developed by EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN).

Last Wednesday, the court dismissed the appeal filed by seven associations which argued that the wind farm will “ruin the emblematic site of Etretat”, whose white cliffs coast was a favourite for Impressionist painters.

The Fecamp site is part of the 2011 offshore wind tender which awarded a total of 2,000 MW across four development zones, off the coast at Fecamp, Courseulles-sur-Mer, Saint-Brieuc and Saint-Nazaire.

All projects from this tender have secured the administrative authorisations required to start construction. Commissioning is expected between 2020 and 2021.

In May, France officially launched the tender procedure for 3,000 MW of offshore wind capacity. Six batches of 500 MW each will be tendered between November 2017 and May 2020. The selection will be based on lowest price bid with the price ceiling set at EUR 74.8/MWh.
