Wind turbines an ‘energy scam’

Letter: Wind turbines an ‘energy scam’ | Argus Leader | June 9, 2017 | www.argusleader.com

Thumbs up to the state of Tennessee.

Gov. Bill Haslam, R-Tenn., signed a bill a few weeks ago which passed the Tennessee House 85-3 and Senate 30-0, that would prohibit the construction of any wind farm until July 1, 2018, in counties that don’t have any regulations related to wind farms in place by July 1, 2017. The new law also creates a special joint legislative study committee to evaluate and make recommendations on the siting of wind farms in the future. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R- Tenn., said this bill “will give Tennesseans an opportunity to decide whether we want our landscape littered with unreliable wind turbines over two times as tall as the skyboxes at the University of Tennessee football stadium. If there is one thing Tennesseans agree on, it is pride in the natural beauty of our state. We should not allow anyone to destroy the environment in the name of saving it.”

Thumbs up to the Walworth County Commissioners who have protected their residents with 2-mile setbacks from residences.

Thumbs down to Dakota Power Community Wind, forcing Lincoln County taxpayers to pay $25,000 to $30,000 for a special referendum election so they can thwart the will of the Commissioners who represent the people and force 1,000-foot setbacks from residences.

Our state legislature better wake up to the wind energy scam before our state looks like Spain, nothing to see but wind turbines.
