Huron Bruce MPP says province ignores most wind turbine complaints

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson has confronted Premier Kathleen Wynne after reports that less than a third of complaints involving industrial wind turbines were ever followed up.

Thompson wants to know why the province chose to ignore thousands of complaints. She says she and her colleagues are also concerned with other issues including case files being closed with no action, improper measurements ignored, and refusing a moratorium on new wind projects.

Thompson asked the premier directly why the minister of environment and climate change chose to ignore these concerns.

“If the premier was listening to Ontario residents, she would know that there are legitimate concerns about wind farms across the province,” said Thompson.

An interview with Global News shows the minister of environment and climate change admitting the province only conducted testing on one wind project, the K-2 farm in Huron Bruce.

“The reality unveiled by Global News yesterday should be taken seriously and you would think the government would do the honourable thing; to respect and address each and every concern,” said Thompson, “Ontarians have been voicing their concerns for years, they just need a government that will listen, so a proper resolution can be achieved.”
