Wind sound rules work

Anne Jameson claims that the Public Service Board’s proposed sound rule would make it “functionally impossible” to build more industrial wind projects or to meet the stated goal of 90% renewable energy by 2050.
Apparently, she doesn’t understand that all the renewable energy credits are sold out of state (mostly to Connecticut), so they don’t count toward Vermont’s goal. Furthermore, she says that the proposed sound standards, which were lowered in part because of health issues suffered by close neighbors of wind projects, would come at the expense of “the whole purpose of wind energy use.” I’m sorry, but I believe that peoples’ health, comfort, and enjoyment of their property are far more important to Vermont than the wind industry’s profit motive. If a developer cannot meet safe and considered requirements, then s/he should go elsewhere, where the fit is better.
