GE is investigating a blade failure at NJR Clean Energy Ventures’ 39.9MW Ringer Hill wind farm in Pennsylvania.

Part of a blade sheared off and fell to the ground in January, NJR spokesperson Michael Kinney told reNEWS.

The project, which consists of 14 2.85MW-103 turbines, was built in 2016 and started commercial operation in December.

There were no injuries and all the turbines were switched off after the incident.

GE has since cleared 12 machines and they are again operating normally, said Kinney.

The manufacturer continues to investigate and has yet to determine the cause of the incident.
