Turbine Fight goes to next round

The battle over plans for eight wind turbines just west of Stayner isn’t over yet.

The Environmental Review Tribunal has granted WPD Canada a remedy hearing which has now been scheduled for February 27, 28 and March 1st in Collingwood Council chambers.

Kevin Elwood says Clearview Township, Simcoe County, Collingwood and himself won’t be presenting at this hearing because the ERT has already sided with their case that there would be harm to human health, to pilots, since the turbines are too close to two airports.

He says WPD Canada has waived the right for a remedy hearing on the proximity issue, but is preparing witnesses to argue about whether the turbines present irreversible harm to natural heritage, in particular the Little Brown Bat, which is endangered.
