A fire at a wind turbine had crews shutting down roads in Missaukee County due to a fire at a wind turbine on Tuesday.
It happened at a turbine near Lachance Roads and Lucas Road.
Details are limited at this time, but crews on scene told MI News 26 that they don’t have equipment to handle a fire this high in the air and are letting it burn.
They say they’re waiting for more information from the company that owns the turbine, Heritage Sustainable Energy in Traverse City.
MI News 26 has reached out to Heritage for more information.
The fire started near 1:30 this afternoon.
Due to the fire each of the blades eventually fell off and continued to smoke on the ground.
A McBain Business owner was one of the first to witness the smoke pouring from the turbine and told Minews26 about his discovery.
Minews26 will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as information becomes available.
