Residents applaud as commissioners advance wind moratorium

CORUNNA – Area residents who packed the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners’ chambers to challenge a controviersial multimillion-dollar wind turbine development project broke into applauded Wednesday when a proposed moratorium was moved forward.
The commissioners’ Committee of the Whole unanimously advanced the proposal to direct the county’s Planning Commission to recommend that the board adopt a moratorium, which could temporarily halt such projects.
