High cost of wind power

Credit:  The Baltimore Sun | December 16, 2016 | www.baltimoresun.com ~~

The article about the new federal rule to allow more avian killing turbines to be built is alarming (“Final wind turbine rule permits thousands of eagle deaths,” Dec. 14). That the majestic endangered eagles will be given a reprieve when the wind isn’t blowing is hardly reassuring because that happens to be the same time when the blades won’t be spinning and fossil fuel backup will be needed.

That’s when the myth of benign wind energy is blown away. With the growth of turbines around the country, the future survival of many avian species will hang on the whims of wind.
