For Vermonter of the Year: Annette Smith

Credit:  Burlington Free Press | December 11, 2016 | www.burlingtonfreepress.com ~~

I’d like to nominate Annette Smith from Vermont for a Clean Environment as the Burlington Free Press person of the year.

I first met Annette more than six years ago when she was providing support and guidance to a group of individuals in my community trying to navigate the Public Service Board process regarding the Lowell wind project. Since that time I have watched Annette tirelessly work to support Vermonters all over the state on a number of issues from energy siting to water quality.

Annette has been effective in helping individual residents of Vermont, statewide, bring their voices, questions and concerns to the forefront. She has been a rock for many of us when we have had no other place to turn. Her commitment to helping communities across Vermont is unprecedented, and for all these reasons and many more not mentioned here I believe she should be acknowledged by being named Vermonter of the Year by the Burlington Free Press.

Thank you for your consideration of this wonderful woman.
