An investigation has started into a fire at the substation compound at Coillte and Bord na Mona’s 58MW Sliabh Bawn wind farm in Roscommon, Ireland.
The developers said that there were “no injuries to any persons and no consequential damage to either the main substation, adjoining construction compound, the wind farm or the adjoining forestry”.
A member of the project’s on-site security team raised the alarm in the early hours of 1 December and the fire was extinguished by units from Strokestown, Lanesboro and Roscommon fire service, they added.
It is understood that all 20 Siemens 3.2-101 turbines have been installed at Sliabh Bawn and that testing of the hardware started in November.
