Wind energy industry does what’s best for them

Argus Leader | November 18, 2016 | www.argusleader.com

Who is the South Dakota Wind Energy Association? They are an industrial wind industry organization that promotes and pushes its agenda, on their limited facts and perception, at the expense of the health and safety of the people. I am one of those people who is for renewable energy, as long as it doesn’t have a negative effect on those who have to live around it. Recently, the SDWEA has been targeting Lincoln County and pushing the industry against the best interest and desires of the people. In their media ads, they have given partial facts and information.

An example of this is the recent full-page ad in the Argus Leader. In it they give the perception that the Wisconsin Wind Citing Council is looking out for the people, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. There is a minority report, written and signed by six of the 14 members, who state that the council makeup has a built-in pro-wind bias that is the majority. This council claims there is no evidence of negative health effects, yet they refused to look at the complaint affidavits and local resolutions from those living near industrial wind turbines in their state. Their noise regulations are significantly above World Health Organization recommendations.

This council, as well as the SDWEA, base its facts and standards on what is in the best interest of the industry, while disregarding and ignoring the growing scientific evidence of the negative effects of industrial wind. This is done at the expense of those who are forced to live in industrial wind zones with inadequate setbacks. Before you make a judgment, I ask you to look at all of the evidence and scrutinize it. Then base your judgment on those who are affected by industrial wind and not on what the industry wants.
