Wind farms still seem likely

Palladium-Item | November 10, 2016 | www.pal-item.com

The wind farm issue has become bigger in the past few months, and will continue to loom. Many residents think the wind farm issue is dead and that there aren’t going to be any. This could be due to the carefully worded public notice put out that wind farms will no longer be pursued in Henry County. Or, from the current commissioners who say they do not support wind farms, but have voted to approve every phase of the wind farm process in the past several years.

What unsuspecting residents do not realize is that the wind farms are continuing to pursue Henry County, and, council members, commissioners and planning commissioners are still listening to them and not voting against their requests. Wind farm leases are continuing to be filed in the county courthouse; FAA permits are continuing to be issued for towers, and at least four wind companies are vying for assorted parcels of Henry County land to put their spinning blades on.

Go to the meetings (see www.Henryco.net) and see for yourself.

And if the towering turbines do come, enjoy the months of torn up roads while telling yourself that the wind companies will do a stellar job of road-building if they ever get done pouring tons of concrete into the Henry County prairies, to have a place to plant their bird/bat killing machines. And don’t for a second believe that this “green” energy will reduce anyone’s electric bill or reduce carbon emissions – the facts and reality show otherwise.
