CLAYTON, N.Y.
There is a new twist in an old fight in Clayton.
Late last week, a settlement was reached that will put an end to the town’s moratorium on wind power development.
As a result, Atlantic Wind, LLC, which first filed the lawsuit, will now be allowed to place towers in the town that will measure wind speed and wind consistency.
The energy company wants to see if Clayton will work as a spot to house windmill towers.
Town officials, however, are still considering a new law that would place strict limits on the height of towers as well as regulate noise and overall environmental impact.
