DEER RIVER – The Denmark town Planning Board has signed off on the proposed Copenhagen Wind Farm after a lengthy review process.

The board on Thursday night gave site plan approval on the 40-turbine project being developed by EDF Renewable Energy, San Diego, Calif., according to Town Attorney Mark G. Gebo.

The board has been reviewing the project for the past few years and tried to do its due diligence before signing off, Mr. Gebo said. “There were a number of things to follow up on,” he said.

Officials from Bernier, Carr & Associates, Watertown, assisted the town in its review of the wind project, one of few remaining that predate the state Article 10 review process.

Developers indicated they plan to start tree clearing and other preliminary work this fall, even though National Grid officials have notified them that the earliest interconnection to the power grid would be in mid-2018.
