ALGONA – Almost all of the opinions expressed during Wednesday’s (Sept. 14) public meeting did not support the building of wind turbines in Kossuth County.
“Tonight you hear a lot of negative,” said Kossuth County Board of Supervisors chairperson Don McGregor after the two hour public hearing. “I don’t know if it changes how I think about it. It just opens your mind to things you have to consider.”
The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors has recognized that the current zoning ordinance does not address commercial wind energy conversion systems and has implemented a moratorium on processing applications to construct the systems until Nov. 30. In addition, the board of supervisors has amended its Zoning Comprehensive Plan to guide them in developing specific zoning provisions.
