Greed energy 1, Kossuth County 0

Algona Upper Des Moines | September 22, 2016 | algona.com

At the wind meeting Wednesday, Sept. 14, I heard a compelling message from an acreage owner that loves her residence. She is concerned of the perpetual noise and visual abuse she is about to endure. This resonated a heartfelt message with no response from company representatives.

I talk to an elderly lady landowner who is harassed on a regular basis to sign a contract that she repeatedly has said “No.”

Bully: Using superior strength to influence or intimidate to force someone to do what they don’t want.

Kossuth motto: We cater to big companies that bully and abuse.

What Kossuth County has to gain: Lower property values for residents in and around the wind farms including communities. Lost revenue as the area affected by wind farms will eventually become a barren area void of people. Higher taxes because utility companies pay little property tax. Ruined bridges, roads and drainage will happen from the 313,000-pound turbines and other heavy equipment.

Will fire departments have adequate resources to fight fireballs from a turbine or rescue tower victims? High paying jobs will not come. MidAmerican president and CEO William Fehrman won’t be living under the turbines. We will inherit obsolete monuments, a tribute to our gullibility in 20 years.

Land owners remorse: There is a reason people that sign up for a windmill sign a gag order. They are signing for peanuts. As windmills age land value will continually decrease more than any compensation received.

Each $3.6 million windmill is free, thanks to a government subsidy if started in 2016.

Is this green energy or greed energy?

Please tell your supervisor there is only one winner and it is not Kossuth County.
