Wind energy deal for the carpetbaggers

Wind energy deal for the carpetbagger's | Daily Advance | September 4, 2016 | www.dailyadvance.com

Webster’s dictionary defines a carpetbagger as an outsider; especially, a nonresident or new resident who seeks private gain from an area often by meddling in its business or politics.

Apex has been here for over three years apparently wheeling and dealing with tax and lease promises. And then there’s the Apex pricey posse: 4 lawyers, 9 expert witnesses, accommodations and expenses, Apex staff to prepare the application and presentation documentation for what is, in reality, an industrial-manufacturing complex, which is in direct violation of zoning restrictions.

The environmental movement and the EPA have many armchair leaders rooting for any victory. The federal government gives tax incentives to wind turbine projects and mandates electric companies buy the energy produced from wind farms, whether in surplus or not. Capitalism or socialism? Carpetbaggers arranged cooperation from a few and influential citizens before purposing new schemes.

Where will the money from an approved project end up? Charlottesville, Va.? The bottom line: All the big bucks will end up in a BP shell company.

From Timbermill’s expert testimony we are asked to approve the project to find out what its environmental impact will be. These are outsiders dictating from an opportunistic position above all the small-town victims. It’s a bait and switch between energy customers eventually footing the bill for Apex profits and their promises of enormous, future tax revenues, the extent of which the two counties don’t know yet.
