Tuairisc ar thuirbíní gaoithe i gCo Dhún na nGall iarrtha ag an Aire Coveney

Tá saineolaí ó Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Átha Cliath ceaptha ag an Aire Tithíochta, Pleanála agus Rialtais Áitiúil Simon Coveney le tuairisc a chur ar fáil dó maidir le coinníollacha pleanála do thuirbíní gaoithe i gCo Dhún na nGall.

Bhí sé socraithe ag Comhairle Contae Dhún na nGall dhá bhliain ó shin go mbeadh ar thuirbíní gaoithe a bheith lonnaithe 10 n-uaire a n-airde ar shiúl ó thithe cónaithe sa chontae.

Dhiúltaigh an tAire Comhshaoil ag an am Alan Kelly glacadh leis an gcoinníoll sin, áfach.

Ach d’éirigh le hachomharc a rinne an Comhairleoir Contae John Campbell san Ard-Chúirt dhá mhí ó shin in éadan chinneadh Alan Kelly. Chuir an Ard-Chúirt cinneadh Alan Kelly ar ceal agus tugadh treoir don Aire Coveney moltaí nua a dhéanamh.

Ina fhianaise sin, tá an saineolaí Hendrik W van der Kamp ceaptha ag Simon Coveney le tuairisc a chur ar fáil dó faoi cheann coicíse maidir le tuirbíní gaoithe i nDún na nGall.

Report on wind turbines in County Donegal requested by Minister Coveney

An expert from Dublin Technological Institute has been appointed by the Minister of Housing, Planning and Local Government Simon Coveney to make a report about planning conditions for wind turbines in County Donegal.

Two years ago, the Donegal County Council set that wind turbines would be sited at a distance 10 times their height from dwellings in the county.

Alan Kelly, the Environment Minister at the time, refused to accept that condition, however.

But an appeal made by County Councillor John Campbell succeeded in the High Court two months ago against Alan Kelly’s decision. The High Court set aside Alan Kelly’s decision and directed Minister Coveney to make new recommendations.

In that context, the expert Hendrik W van der Kamp has been appointed by Simon Coveney to make a report to him within two weeks about wind turbines in Donegal.
