Kingman County commissioners agreed Monday on contracts for a 200-megawatt commercial wind farm.

A statement from the county said agreements were signed with Kingman Wind Energy 1 LLC, a branch of Florida’s NextEra Capital Energy Holdings. That company has an agreement to sell power to Westar Energy for 20 years.

The company is required to pay Kingman County an up-front fee of $2.2 million by July 27 for permits and other expenses. Most annual permits for operating the wind farm will cost $700,000.

The energy company also will pay Kingman County $500,000 to resurface roadways as a result of construction. More than 14 miles of paved county roads are expected to be used.

The wind farm is expected to be in operation by early 2017.
