Transportation of wind turbine components causes traffic chaos

By Chris Betteley | Cambrian News | 14 June 2016 | www.cambrian-news.co.uk

A wide load transporting wind turbine components has now passed through Aberystwyth with backed-up traffic now slow moving around the A44 at Llanbadarn roundabouts and around Penglais Hill.

A crash has also been reported on the A44 near Capel Bangor.

Motorists were earlier caught up in a jam in Aberystwyth as the wind turbine components were escorted up the A487 and into town.

Drivers were reproting that traffic is at a near standstill in both directions from Penparcau causing tailbacks stretching all the way into town.

The oversized load is being escorted by police who are stopping traffic to allow the load to pass.

It is currently navigating Rhydyfelin.

The arrival of the wide load coincided with the after-school run for many parents with traffic backed up in all directions from the Morrison’s roundabout.

Motorists were reporting a complete standstill as far away as Park Avenue and at Llanbadarn Fawr.
