Norway grants permission to build 135 MW wind power plant

Norway’s oil and energy ministry has granted permission for Oslo-based Fred.Olsen Renewables to build a 135-megawatt onshore wind power plant, the ministry said on Monday.

Fred.Olsen Renewables is operating and developing wind power plants in Britain, Sweden and Norway, with a total installed capacity of about 500 MW.

The newly approved plant in Norway’s southeastern region of Rogaland would be able to produce 400 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year, enough to supply 20,000 homes.

Norway and Sweden aim to boost their combined renewable power output by 28.4 terawatt-hours (TWh) per year by 2020 compared to 2012. (Reporting by Nerijus Adomaitis, editing by Terje Solsvik)
